Why Did Toji Kill Himself After Finding Out That Megumi Was His Son?

Toji Fushihoro is a complex and powerful character in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime and manga series. He has no cursed energy like other sorcerers but has amazing speed and strength making him a really tough opponent. At one point, he almost killed Gojo Satoru, one of the strongest sorcerers of all time. But eventually he was killed by Gojo.

But in recent episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was revealed that a sorcerer named Ogami’s summoned Toji Fushigoro’s soul into her grandchild's body. But instead, Toji takes control over his body. And kills the Ogami's.

In a recent episode of season 2, Toji was fighting with his son, Megumi Fushigoro, without knowing that he was his son. But when he finds that out, he kills himself on the spot. This decision has left many fans wondering why Toji killed himself instead of trying to talk to Megumi. After all, they could have had a chance to get to know each other and build a relationship.

How did Toji come back to life?

The main cause of bringing Toji back to life in Shibuya arc is ogami particularly ogami’s cursed technique. Ogami is a powerful sorcerer who used a technique known as Seance Which allows her to summon anyone soul and it’s information into a vessel, in Toji case which was her grandson. 

But to summon a soul the vessel have to eat remainings of the person she is summoning. In anime we have seen the ogami’s grandson eating the remains of Toji from a vessel. It is also interesting to know that the information of Toji that Ogami summoned is from a time when he was Toji Zen’in not the Toji who caught Gojo Satoru.

Why Toji Fights with Megumi?

After regaining consciousness, Toji set his sights on eliminating the most powerful person nearby, after killing Ogami. In his quest, Toji identified Dagon as the most powerful within its domain. as Megumi opens a small hole inside its domain, Toji quickly enters inside it, Toji swiftly engaged in combat. His mission wasn't to help Megumi; but rather, he had to fight and kill the most powerful person or the curse that was around him and in such a situation, there was a Dagon there. With Dagon defeated, the only remaining powerful person was Megumi Fushiguro, as Maki and Nanami lacked comparable strength. If Megumi dies here, then after that, apart from Megumi, the most powerful character present there, Toji will start to fight with that person, even if Sukna comes in front of Toji.

Why Toji killed himself in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Toji sacrificed himself

When Toji asked Megumi for his name, and Megumi replied with "Fushiguro," Toji realized that his son hadn't been sold to the Zenin clan. He understood that Gojo had saved his son, leading him to the realization that if he didn't take his own life, the overpowering consciousness from the Ogami's technique would prevail. Toji was beating Megumi in such a dirty manner that there Megumi is not even getting time to get up even a little. Toji decided to end his own life, causing the death of his host and ultimately himself. This brought an end to the curse technique that Ogami, as the host was now died. Toji chose this path because he regained consciousness and couldn't bear the thought of harming his own child.

Guilt 

Toji was a dangerous hitman who had killed a ton of people in his life. Despite not having cursed energy, he was incredibly powerful. He was just like a killing machine but after that he may have felt guilty about the fact that he was trying to kill his own son. This can be a reason why Toji killed himself after finding out that Megumi was his son.

 Shame 

Toji may have been ashamed because he was a hitman,but he was a very proud man. But he may think that he is not worthy of being Megumi's father. As his son is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer who helps and saves people from curses, Toji is a hitman who kills people for the sake of money. This shame may have led him to suicide.

Responsibility 

One other reason why Toji killed himself after finding out that Megumi was his son might be that when Megumi was just a child Toji abandoned him and his mom.

As Toji didn’t fulfill his responsibility as a father, not taking care of his son in his childhood when he needed him the most. He doesn’t want to face his son after not fulfilling his responsibility as a father.

But Toji entrusted Gojo to raise and train Megumi Fushiguro, so he would become a strong and powerful sorcerer who could help others from the cursed spirits.

What could have happened if Toji had talked to Megumi?

If Toji didn’t kill himself, it would be interesting to see the conservation conversation between Toji and Megumi. They could have had a chance to get to know each other and build a relationship. Megumi was always curious to know about his father as he didn't know much about him. However,  Toji has a chance to
